Joint Workshops and Publications
In addition to public engagement events at annual U.S. and international scientific meetings and at CCIWG-sponsored or co-sponsored public meetings of different science groups, the U.S. Carbon Cycle Science Program Office has sponsored, organized or co-organized multiple topical workshops and publications with the U.S. and global science community to advance, coordinate and communicate carbon cycle science with a collaborative and innovative approach.

2. State of the Carbon Cycle Report (SOCCR2)
With over 200 contributing experts, this interagency decadal Highly Influential Scientific Assessment (HISA) was led by the Carbon Cycle Interagency Working Group (CCIWG) and U.S. Carbon Cycle Science Program under U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) auspices from 2015 to 2018. It was reviewed by 13 U.S. Government agencies and departments, the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, and the general public before final release in November 2018. SOCCR2 is a Sustained Assessment report of the USGCRP and can be accessed via https://carbon2018.globalchange.gov. See SOCCR2 Workshops and other Public engagement activities.

11. A Carbon Cycle Science Plan (2011)
U.S. Scientists Call for Integrated Study of Carbon Cycle - In 2011, the carbon cycle science community in the United States finished its planning process for carbon cycle research for the upcoming decade. This reassessment of the U.S. carbon cycle science priorities was initiated by the U.S. Carbon Cycle Interagency Working Group (CCIWG) and the Carbon Cycle Science Steering Group (CCSSG) in 2008.

A U.S. Carbon Cycle Science Plan (1999) (Sarmiento and Wofsy, 1999), reflects the combined knowledge and insight of prominent carbon cyclescientists and well-informed science program managers in both academia and federal government. The vision is that an integrated interdisciplinary science, multi-agency partnership, new and advanced technology and advanced modeling approaches would yield better understanding of the carbon storage, sources and sinks in North America and adjacent ocean basins, and that the research would strengthen the scientific foundation for resource management and policy decisions in numerous areas of public in numerous areas of public interest.
