Organizations representing the two most extensive networks for measuring, monitoring and understanding the carbon cycle on continental scales, the U.S. Carbon Cycle Science Program (CCSP) and the E.U. Integrated Carbon Observation System (ICOS), produce and use a tremendous amount of high quality data and analyses for understanding the carbon cycle across multiple scales. Much more can be learned when efforts from these and other multi-partner and multi-platform systems and networks are compared and contrasted, further advancing our ability to understand carbon cycle feedbacks and the level of threat they pose, improving our ability to track the influence of fossil fuels and other contributors to increasing atmospheric CO2 and CH4and enhancing negative emissions science. This session seeks presentations using data from multiple networks or comparing and contrasting findings with different sets of data to improve carbon cycle understanding, including carbon cycle variability and uncertainties to inform policy-making processes and decisions.
