America’s component of the 4th Carbon from Space workshop

Registration is open for the virtual America’s component of the 4th Carbon from Space workshop that will take place October 25-28th, 2022 (https://4thcarbonfromspace.esa.int). The workshop is co-hosted by NASA and the European Space Agency and will review key research areas in land-atmosphere carbon exchange, review progress from the 3rd Carbon from Space workshop and develop a set of recommendations for the time frame 2023-2028.

 

The virtual ‘Americas’ program will take place over three sessions, from 9 am to 10:30 am, or 12-noon (Pacific time), from October 25-26th, to provide perspectives from scientists in the America’s to be included in the recommendations report.

 

  • Session 1 (October 25th, 09:00-10:30 pacific): Methane in the Arctic Permafrost (AMPAC Special Session), Chaired by Dr Kimberley Miner, with presentations from Dr Annett Bartsch, Dr Marisol Maddox, Dr Rachel Mackelprang, and Dr Leslie Canavera
  • Session 2 (October 26th, 09:00-12:00 pacific): Synergistic use of observations for constraining the carbon cycle, Chaired by Dr Natasha MacBean, with presentations from Dr Marine Remaud, Dr Mallory Barnes, Dr Stijn Hantson, Dr Nancy Kiang, Dr Xueli Huo and Dr Michael Dietze
  • Session 3 (October 27th, 09:00-10:30 pacific): Observing Carbon-Climate Feedbacks from Space: Prospects and Challenges, Chaired by Drs Junjie Liu & Kevin Bowman, with presentations from Dr Nikki Lovenduski, Dr James Randerson, Dr Pierre Gentine and Dr Marcos Longo

 

Following the presentations, each session will have a panel discussion and question and answer session to help shape the recommendations going forward.
