The University of Minnesota’s Sustainable Healthy Cities Network hosted the latest meeting of the Global Carbon Project Scientific Steering Committee meeting in June 2019. NASA Scientist and North American Carbon Program Science Leadership Group (NACP SLG) member Ben Poulter and US Carbon Cycle Science Program Office Director Gyami Shrestha discussed ongoing efforts and potential collaborations around diverse topics incl. REgional Carbon Cycle Assessment and Processes’, phase 2 (RECCAP-2) , Negative Emissions and potential follow-up ideas around SOCCR2.
The Sustainable Healthy Cities Network and the Global Carbon Project also hosted a joint workshop in urban data management with diverse multinational scientists and practitioners immediately following the Global Carbon Project Steering Committee Meeting. As part of a panel of invited speakers, Dr. Shrestha spoke about her perspective on the state of U.S. and international urban carbon research, challenges and opportunities in an interdisciplinary as well interagency context.
